Looking after the rights of micro businesses
Your business is a micro business if it meets one of these criteria:
- you use less than 100,000 kWh of electricity
- you use less than 293,000 kWh of gas a year
- you have fewer than 10 employees (or their full-time equivalent) and an annual turnover total not exceeding £2 million.
Opus Energy is committed to ensuring micro businesses benefit from additional protection, particularly with regards to the back-billing of energy supply and at the point of contract renewal.
Backbilling policy for micro businesses
We’re committed to delivering the highest standards of customer service, and as part of our commitment you can read more about our backbilling policy on our dedicated page.
Renewing your contract with Opus Energy
We’ll write to you before the end of your fixed period and let you know that the end is approaching and provide you with options for next steps. Here's more information about our contracts.
If you choose not to negotiate a further fixed contract and you remain supplied by us after your fixed period expires, you will be charged for your energy on a variable rate. These rates can change at any time, and you can usually get a better deal with a new contract. Your contract will continue on this variable rate until you agree a new contract or switch to a new supplier
If you prefer to switch to a new supplier after your fixed period ends and there is outstanding contractual debt on your account, we may object to the transfer.
We also adhere to certain standards when it comes to your service and supply, and when our representatives visit your premises.
