Infographic: Why business owners want to make braver sustainability decisions after the pandemic
13th July 2020
A survey commissioned by Opus Energy has found that business owners are increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We wanted to understand the mood of businesses after the biggest global shift many of us have ever experienced. Where do small and medium business owners’ priorities lie as day-to-day life begins to return?
While the need for business stability is - understandably - a prominent concern, 75% of businesses are focused on finding new, more flexible ways of working, including increased working from home.
As well as stability and flexibility, 66% of respondents highlighted the need for bolder decision making as an important element of running a business.
Similarly, many business leaders (68%) indicated that they are more environmentally conscious than they were before the coronavirus pandemic. The climate crisis is the most pressing issue facing us today, and COVID-19 has offered an opportunity for businesses to reflect on their priorities. A brave new world
As we emerge from lockdown and return to a more normal way of life, it’s important that the lessons of the last few months continue to play a role in the thinking of business owners.
Braver decision-making is needed to help balance priorities, to ensure that all businesses can start planning for a sustainable post-pandemic recovery.
